This year, all parade entries must be decorated! Get Creative with your Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade entry. No one likes to watch a car with just a magnet on it!
This year’s theme is “Dunwoody Salutes America’s Volunteers.” Whether you are marching with a group, building a float or decorating a car, try to incorporate this theme into your parade unit and don’t forget ~ GET CREATIVE!

Fourth
of July Parade Rules
- All Parade participants MUST Check-in at the parade check-in station located on the corner of Jett Ferry and Mt. Vernon Rd. Because of persistent violations in the past, we will enforce noted rules. Violators will be removed from the parade!
- ALL political candidates must be PRESENT a (no stand-ins) and RIDE in a car with no more than 4 walkers. Because of persistent violations in the past, we will enforce noted rules. Violators will be removed from the parade!
- Do NOT throw ANYTHING into the crowds. This includes CANDY! Because of persistent violations in the past, we will enforce noted rules. Violators will be removed from the parade!
- Why? It draws children into the streets and many floats and vehicles cannot see them which will endanger them. There have been tragic incidences in many parades around the country. You may walk along the route and HAND out items to spectators.
- Please do not douse the crowd with water toys – super soakers are not allowed. Because of persistent violations in the past, we will enforce noted rules. Violators will be removed from the parade!
- Please stay with your group and continue moving forward to prevent gaps in the parade. Because of persistent violations in the past, we will enforce noted rules. Violators will be removed from the parade!
- Keep all dogs on a leash.
- PARENTS AND GUARDIANS OF YOUNG CHILDREN! Please keep an eye on your young child at ALL times. DO NOT let them run into the street. The parade moves along swiftly, and an accident can happen so quickly!
- Safety comes first - always keep in mind that the parade is filled with children – please help us keep them safe. Be sure your children stay close to your group at all times.
- Participants, under the age of 8, if walking and/or riding bikes and scooters, will enter the parade at the half-way mark - St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church. For groups with both adults and young children, the children (with adult for supervision) may join the unit at St. Luke’s.
- All Swim teams must enter the parade at St Luke’s Presbyterian Church, unless they have a float. Then they may start at the beginning.
- Why? This ensures the parade flow will move swiftly. Swim teams and all of the young walkers hold up the parade.
- There MUST be a fender covering all wheels on floats carrying people. Tires are not to be exposed. This is for the safety of folks riding on the float itself. Because of persistent violations in the past, we will enforce noted rules. Violators will be removed from the parade!
- IMPORTANT: ALL persons riding on a float or in the back of pick-up trucks MUST stay on or inside the vehicle and/or float. For example – no legs or feet are to be dangling from the float or truck! This is extremely dangerous. Because of persistent violations in the past, we will enforce noted rules. Violators will be removed from the parade!
- And Most Important…Have a Great Time!
