1. Zoning/Development:
- Chris Troxel,
Dunwoody Renovations,
presented to DHA
a check for $1600.00,
the money raised
from the playhouse
raffle at the Fourth
of July parade.
He plans to repeat
the event for the
2006 parade.
- Old Marimay property
– Bill Grossman
has been trying
to get an update
from Dr. Anchors.
- Mt. Vernon -
Ashford-Dunwoody
intersection/greenspace
- no report from
Bill Phillips.
- BB&T sidewalk
update – discussions
are continuing.
- Finger Development,
216 apartment units
with 8950 sq. ft.
retail; Palisades
Development, 390
condo units; and
Concourse Development,
650 condo units,
all in the Perimeter
Center area, will
be the last three
projects in the
Sandy Springs area
to go before the
Fulton County Board.
- Change to O&I
language that permits
construction of
apartments without
review – Bob
Lundsten is continuing
to work with Commissioner
Boyer for change
in the law.
2. Web site/DHA logo
- Celeste Webb presented
a sample of the DHA
Board approved Logo.
3. Light up Dunwoody
- Margot Cole reported
that all Light up
Dunwoody events will
be held on Sunday,
November 20.
4. President's report:
- Illegal sign in
Dunwoody Village
- Regency will have
the sign corrected.
- 2006 DHA Annual
Meeting has been
changed from Sunday,
February 5 (super
Bowl Sunday) to
January 29th at
Dunwoody United
Methodist Church.
5. Code infractions
update - Gerri Penn
reported that Officer
Wallace is no longer
with DeKalb County
and his replacement
has not been named.
6. Community Affairs:
- Bill Robinson
introduced Pam Tallmadge
as July Fourth parade
co-chair.
- Bill Grossman
has scheduled a
forum for candidates
for Sandy Springs
Council, District
1 at Brandon Hall
on October 16 at
7 PM.
- DHA will sponsor
the Dunwoody Nature
Center 2006 Dream
Gardens Tour.
- DeKalb County
will conduct a "Train
the Trainers"
workshop on curbside
recycling at Perimeter
College November
3 at 7:30 PM.
7. Brook Run update
- Nick Nicodemus reported
that the opening ceremony
for the
Children's Adventure
Garden is still scheduled
in late October, time
and date to be announced.
Nick also agreed to
find out what specifically
the $11 M identified
for Brook Run in the
upcoming bond vote
will be used for.
8. Board discussions
and votes - Ken Wright
discussed selecting
a professional events
firm to assist with
the July Fourth parade.
The firm's primary
role will be to identify
and acquire sponsors,
acquire multiple bands
for the parade and
advise volunteers
on ways to improve
the quality of parade
entries. It is anticipated
that fees paid to
the firm will be matched
by funds given by
new sponsors. The
theme and character
of the parade will
not change. If this
association is successful,
we will consider adding
Light up Dunwoody.
The DHA Board approved
$5000, to be matched
by the Crier Newspapers,
to hire Holly Mull
and Associates for
the 2006 July Fourth
parade.
