Brook
Run Park
By Ken Wright, President,
Dunwoody Homeowners
Association, Inc.
We are optimistic
that the public will
see activity late
this fall as construction
of the “Children’s
Adventure Garden”
at Brook Run Park
begins! DeKalb County
Parks & Recreation
is close to selecting
the contractor out
of the bids submitted.
Completion of this
exciting cornerstone
to Brook Run Park
is scheduled for late
Spring 2005.
To address another
popular feature of
the Brook Run Master
Plan, DeKalb County
Parks and Recreation
is in the design phase
for a “Skate
Board Park”
which will be located
adjacent to the “Children’s
Adventure Garden.”
Funds for this project
were designated by
Commissioner Elaine
Boyer and approved
unanimously by the
DeKalb County Board
of Commissioners.
The Brook Run Advisory
Committee is taking
action to form the
“Brook Run Conservancy,”
a nonprofit 501(c)3
enterprise to work
in concert with DeKalb
County Parks and Recreation
in a public-private
partnership. The primary
objective of the Conservancy
will be to raise funds
needed to implement
the full scope of
the Brook Run Master
Plan designed by EDAW
and unanimously approved
by DeKalb Board of
Commissioner’s
and CEO Vernon Jones
in January 2003.
The Dunwoody Homeowners
Association and The
Dunwoody Preservation
Trust have been instrumental
in helping DeKalb
County revitalize
this wonderful facility
for the enjoyment
of all the citizens
of our County.
