Dunwoody
Salutes America: With
Liberty and Justice
for All
By Ken Wright, President,
Dunwoody Homeowners
Association, Inc.
In less than two
months, the annual
Fourth of July parade
will wind its way
through Dunwoody.
The parade, titled
"Dunwoody Salutes
America," has
as its theme this
year "With Liberty
and Justice for All."
Started in 1991 to
celebrate the successful
end to Desert Storm,
the parade has grown
over the years to
become a major community
event. Last year,
some 2000 people participated
and over 25,000 lined
the parade route.
As in the past, the
parade starts at 9:30
AM on Monday, July
4 in the Dunwoody
Ace Home Place and
All Saints Catholic
Church parking lots.
Marchers proceed west
on Mount Vernon, turn
right on Dunwoody
Village Parkway and
end in Dunwoody Village
for the closing ceremony.
Again, small children
will join the parade
at Saint Luke's Presbyterian
Church.
New this year: everyone
must use the web to
register for the parade.
Participants should
access the DHA web
site and click on
"register for
the 4th of July parade."
Complete parade information
and a registration
form will appear.
When the completed
form is forwarded,
an immediate response
will confirm that
the form has been
received. Later, each
participant will receive
a parade sequence
number by e-mail.
These changes will
make registration
on the day of the
parade much quicker.
DHA and the Crier,
co-sponsors of the
parade, want to thank
the merchants, churches
and property owners
who have provided
space for us to conduct
parade activities.
These include Dunwoody
Ace Home Place, Regency
Centers (Dunwoody
Village), All Saints
Catholic Church and
Saint Luke's Presbyterian
Church. Without their
support, the parade
would not happen.
We also appreciate
civic groups that
provide food and drinks,
and volunteers who
give their time and
expertise.
See you on July Fourth!
