COMMUNITY PRESENTATIONS.

Holiday Lighting—Marion Jones

Don commended Marion for a great job on Light Up Dunwoody 2001. A list of committees was distributed. Marion indicated that she would stay as chairman but she needs help on committees-- (Sponsorship, Decoration, Advertising, Entertainment). Motion was made to provide committee support to Marion and have committee chairpersons in place by June. It was seconded and motion carried.

Blood Drive—Life South would like to know if DHA would like to sponsor blood drive. Action: Don Boyken will check on this since we did not have enough information.

DEKALB ZONING—Bill Grossman

Ashford Dunwoody/Mt. Vernon—Meeting on December 12 for developers to indicate that they are committed to building on the property. Action: Bill Grossman will attend this meeting.

FULTON ZONING—Don Boyken

Peachtree Dunwoody—parcel postponed until February. Homeowners are meeting with developers trying to work out a solution.

SIGNAGE--Ken Wright

Billboards—Bob Lundsten--CRIER did a good job of reporting on this. County has pulled 40 or 50 permits. Billboards will not be put up in Dunwoody. We need to make sure that we have a coordinated effort when something like this comes up.

Blue House—DeKalb says that sign is in Fulton County—Fulton says it is not.

Shopping Center on Dunwoody Village Parkway has neon signs and banner (left side of center). Action: Ken and Bill will talk to Simpson Realty.

HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATIONS MEMBERSHIP—Don Boyken

Committee will try to have a meeting this week.

PERIMETER CID DISTRICT—Rick Jones

Boundary line has been redrawn. Property across from Marta—everything is preliminary. They will make presentation to Board when they have a plan. Fran Millar asked that CID communicate with the CRIER to alert everyone when intersection work is to begin.

OVERLAY—Bill Phillips

There is a meeting tomorrow and they should have a timetable. Bill will send this to Charlene to be distributed with minutes. Ordinance is written. Don asked that everyone read information on Overlay and send comments to Bill this week.

MERCHANT SUPPORT—Bill Phillips

Committee is in place: Jim Hart from the CRIER, Joyce Amacher, and Bill Phillips. Plaque will be presented.

Criteria for award:

  1. Located in Dunwoody
  2. Store complies with Williamsburg design and colors
  3. Complies with signage requirements
  4. Pedestrian friendly
  5. In business 1 year or longer
  6. Well maintained landscaping

BROOK RUN—Nick Nicodemus

DOT changes to roads are a dead issue. There is no timetable for Brook Run. Action: Nick was asked to have RFQ by annual meeting.

COMMUNICATIONS—Bill Robinson

Year end summary will be forwarded to CRIER this week. CRIER published all articles that were submitted.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE—Sherman Dudley

He has been in contact with Jerry Ling for mass mailing. Annual meeting date was set: January 27. Action: Needs to meet with Don for information to include in mailing. Bill Robinson was asked to work with Sherman on mass mailing piece.

Sherm said that he had been talking to 2 new subdivisions about joining DHA.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE FOR EXEC. BD. MEMBERS—Bill Robinson

Executive committee elects officers. Executive committee members have three-year terms. Don Boyken and Bill Robinson will roll off this year. Paul Ruhmkorff, elected director and treasurer, is moving and has resigned. Margo Cole has agreed to serve as interim treasurer for rest of this year. Bill presented Margo Cole and John Sparks for 3-year terms and Don Boyken to replace Paul Ruhmkorff for remaining two years. Motion was made to confirm names presented. It was seconded and motion carried. Bill will present these for election at annual meeting.

BANDSTAND PROPOSAL

Bill Robinson received Board approval last month to approach Regency regarding bandstand to be built in Dunwoody Village. He met with Regency and proposed that Regency could build it and have control over it or DHA could raise money to build it and own part of it. No commitment was made, but they seemed interested.

ZONING CODE ENFORCEMENT

Church of Scientology—No action yet taken on whether this is a church or a training center.

Need new volunteer since Margo Cole has taken position of treasurer for DHA.

OTHER BUSINESS

There was discussion on getting more Fulton County residents on DHA Board.

There was a discussion on Green Space and money from county. Bike trail at Linear Park is still in negotiation.

Dick Williams invited all to CRIER Christmas party at Fandangos on December 12—6 to 9 p.m. He mentioned that he heard that NAJHS had purchased Lucent property at Abernathy and Roswell Roads.
